A terracotta vase and its matching saucer are engineered to integrate seamlessly in both geometry and function, resulting in an object with a consistent formal language and a clearly defined user interaction. The saucer is dimensionally optimized to interface with the pot and serves as a visual indicator of water availability, making the hydration level immediately readable.
The product name, Duetto, synthesizes the design concept and the development narrative: it highlights the dual nature of the system—a coupled set of components—and the dialogue established between plant and pot, and between pot and saucer. Together, these elements form a complete, interdependent unit that delivers both structural cohesion and functional clarity.

To celebrate the launch of the collection and highlight the encounter between two worlds, the pots were photographed by Francesca Ferrari in several “hybrid locations” around the city of Milan. These shots draw inspiration from Mario Scairato’s personal trip to Tokyo, which influenced both the design of the pots and the concept for the exhibition spaces.

The three vases in the collection feature a truncated-cone body with a cylindrical base that fits precisely into the saucer, whose profile ensures both alignment and a secure interface with the pot. Pot and saucer are conceived as a single system— a paired set in which neither element can exist independently. They interact and function as a harmonious, fully integrated unit.

The Duetto vases are handcrafted in terracotta using plaster molds. The finish is a “tobacco” color—a natural grey-brown tone reminiscent of raw earth.

The dimensions of the vases were designed primarily to meet domestic needs, while still being suitable for courtyards and outdoor spaces.
